Holly O’Grady is a lifelong learner with over ten years of
experience in talent and leadership development. She has designed and
implemented high-impact development programs for American Express and
VNU (now known as The Nielsen Company). Action Learning served as a
key element of these programs providing the participants with a
hands-on approach to learning more about their business as well as
gaining insight about their own leadership skills. In addition to
being the program director, Holly was also a learning coach supporting
both teams and individuals in reaching their personal goals for the
program.
Holly has co-presented on Action Learning at the New Jersey Sharing
Day, the Global Action Learning Forum and the 2008 Annual Organization
Development Conference. Her insights on this process have been
included in the book, Understanding Action Learning by Judy O’Neil and
the October 2008 issue of the OD Practitioner.
Prior to joining the OD field, Holly worked as a retail manager where
she conducted numerous sales training programs. Noticing the strong
correlation between the training and increased sales, Holly decided to
return to graduate school to learn more. She received her Masters in
Adult Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also
holds a M.F.A in fine arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
where she received an undergraduate degree in art education.
Holly started a script consulting business with her husband, Steven
Fechter, who is a playwright and screenwriter. They have created a
learning process to help experienced and beginning writers realize the
full potential of their stories through a series of accelerated
exercises and group interactions. Prompted by the stories of the many
professionals who are in transition, she started a blog, http://hollyorbit.blogspot.com, to explore how people have successfully managed change in their lives.
